Just your basic blog about my gardening obsession. Yes, a bit ridiculous to start a gardening blog at the end of October, but oh well.

Welcome !

My name is Erin, I’m a 29-year-old mother of two wonderful girls, aged 6 years and newborn. I live in Ontario Canada and get to enjoy the extremes of all four seasons. Ok, I don’t enjoy winter.

Since moving to our new home I have discovered the beautiful world of designing a garden, the frustration and joy it brings, and the gorgeous big blooms that appear after all the work put into growing them. My other loves include reading, art, baking, names (that requires a whole new blog), travelling and music. Oh, and coffee.

This is where I will put my thoughts and ideas in writing about gardening, certain plants and other things that cross my mind.

  1. Hi Erin! My husband is the gardener in our family and I am the photographer of beautiful flowers in the garden. Thanks for stopping by my blog and “liking” one of my posts! Happy Friday. Margie

  2. Erin, it’s never too late to start gardening and blogging. Glad you found mine, and I’ve been enjoying exploring your site. Nicely done — and I love the name you picked for your blog. If you’d like to become more obsessed, you can check out http://www.blotanical.com. It’s nothing but gardening blogs from all over the world. You may even want to register your blog with them. Happy writing and happy gardening!

  3. I absolutely love gardening! Lately, I haven’t been blogging about it as much as I did in the summer but I definitely will when things get going in the garden. A great blog you have here – one for the blogroll!

  4. Thanks Erin for “Liking” my recent post about delphiniums. I live on the East Coast of the USA, and am still harvesting my parsley (which I mulched with many layers). But the cold is definitely here–ugh. I’ll be doing a photo shoot of Longwood Gardens next week. Hope that you’ll Follow my journey. I am about to Follow yours, Sally

  5. Hi there! Thanks for popping over and liking our post about getting started in Homesteading – first step Gardening. Like everyone said – your photography is beautiful! We’ll see if we can create beautiful scenery like you! 🙂 Hope to see you stop by again!

  6. Hi Erin! I too started blogging in October 2011 – it has been fun 🙂 Thanks for stopping by to see my greenhouse! I look foward to keeping up with your blog! By the way, I loved your post on rooftop gardens. My university has one and it almost always looks dead – but such is the way in NM during the winter. Take care!

  7. Thanks for stopping by my Post today!
It’s been a bit warm for January down here causing the daffodils to grow (up about 6 inches) and the forsythia buds to swell. Hope the cherry trees don’t follow suit or we may have no spring color when they all get frozen in February.
    Have a fabulous day!

  8. Hi Erin. Thanks for stopping by my blog and liking my post on seeds and their longevity. It looks like you’ve got a great blog going here yourself. You images are great! I’m not much of a winter fan either. I’m in New Hampshire, so I feel your pain! We’re practically neighbors! But you have to admit, this is a great time to do all the planning. Looking forward to following your garden through the year.

  9. Hi, thanks for visiting my blog and clicking “like” on one of my posts. This looks like a great blog, and I’ll look forward to following your garden!

  10. Erin, I’m delighted you came by and introduced yourself–I’ll enjoy sharing in your adventures here very much. We have a number of interests in common! Cheers to you, and I hope January has been kind this year in Ontario!

  11. Erin, thanks for stopping by my blog- I love your pics and look forward to posting some of my own once we get into spring and summer. I love gardening as well and am thoroughly enjoying experimenting with different plants and shrubs. I love watching things grow and digging in the dirt. Look forward to seeing more pics and hearing about your gardening adventures.

  12. And here is another person thanking you for the ‘like’ you gave me…truly, though, it is appreciatated. Your blog is very interesting, and I thouroughly look forward to exploring it.

  13. Hi Erin, thanks for popping over and liking my recent garden post. Your blog layout is lovely. What is that magnificient flower in the picture on your sidebar?

    • Neat ! Thanks ! The link took me to a page that was not found, so I’m not sure what the Versatile Blogger Award is. I’ll just go check out her blog home page and see what I can find. Thanks again !

  14. Hi Erin,
Thanks for visiting and liking my seed starting post. If you think it was craziness to start a gardening blog in October, I started mine in February! So we gardeners really are an optimistic bunch, aren’t we? Either that, or we don’t know what else to do with outselves when we’re not gardening!

  15. Hi Erin,
Thanks for stopping by on my second day of blogging and being kind enough to add a “like” to my blog. I’ll have to check out many of the other blogs you’ve added a “like” to so I can follow some other great garden blogs.

  16. Thanks for ‘liking’ my post and congratulations on a lovely and well informed blog yourself. I shall follow with great interest. I just do not manage enough time in the garden, too many other interests, but am still an enthusiast:)

  17. Thanks for stopping by my blog. It sounds like we have a lot in common, except the whole living in Canada thing. 🙂 I am interested in your “name” obsession. What exactly does that mean?

  18. Thanks for stopping by my blog today! The pictures of all your flowers are absolutely beautiful! I do just a few flowers, lots and lots of vegetables and am just starting to get into herbs! There is nothing more satisfying than planting a seed and watching it grow into something wonderful.

  19. Erin, I am so enjoying your blog – it’s stunning. How is it like having a garden in Canada? What does and does not grow there? (I know – big question) My garden is currently in Norway, and soon in Wales. Looking forward to your posts!

  20. Thanks for stopping by and ‘liking’ my blog. Looks like you have a big garden. I wish we could experience more extremes of temperature here. Cold and wet seems to be all there is in Edinburgh at the moment 🙂

  21. Hi,

  24. Hi Erin. Thanks for visiting. I understand the need for different blogs!! My gardening and cooking blog is still walking baby steps. But hey, I am in Scotland like you are in Canada, and summer is only just upon us here. And my new summerhouse gives me enthusiasm to start growing in these latitudes.

Talk about a learning curve!! So nice to visit your blog. Will keep doing so – the best way is to sign up. So I will. Thank you.
